Julian is an actor based in New York City. Born in the Santa Cruz mountains to a Dutch abstract photographer and a dancer-turned-veterinarian from Louisiana, culture and contradictions stoked his curiosity about the worlds both inside and around him. An amalgam of these and other distinct places he’s lived in, Julian is interested in exploring the complexities of identity, extremity, and the deepest needs of the human heart – as well as how an increasingly interconnected world is shaping how we contact each other.

Julian first stepped on the professional stage as a boy soprano soloist and chorister, performing with the San Francisco and Berkeley Symphonies, as well as international radio and television broadcasts, including NPR’s From The Top.

With storytelling always at the root of his work, Julian firmly planted himself in the theater after the inevitable voice change, first studying with Dutch actor and director Arnica Elsendoorn at the Universiteit van Amsterdam while finishing high school on his own in the Netherlands. Further professional study has included the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, the Atlantic Acting School in New York, and masterclasses with Olympia Dukakis, Lucas Caleb Rooney, and Bob Krakower. He is currently an MFA Candidate in Acting at the Columbia University School of the Arts, under the guidance of James Calleri and Ron Van Lieu.

During his time in New York, Julian has appeared with the Chautauqua Theater Company, Notch Theatre, New Light Theater Project, and has spent three seasons at the Williamstown Theatre Festival, where he worked in shows directed by Michael Arden, Lonny Price, and festival Associate Artistic Director Laura Savia, among others.
